Pupils told to self-isolate after confirmed coronavirus cases at two Fife schools

NHS Fife has told pupils at two schools in Dunfermline to self-isolate after two individuals tested positive for Covid-19.

The health board said an individual linked to Pitreavie School has tested positive for coronavirus.

The positive case is currently isolating at home with other household members.

As a precaution, all children in orange, blue and yellow rooms are being asked not to attend school tomorrow (Tuesday, September 29) and should self-isolate until Wednesday, October 7 and return to school and other activities on Thursday, October 8.

NHS Fife said there is no evidence to suggest any onward transmission of coronavirus within the school at this stage and the risk to pupils and staff appears to be low.

Meanwhile, an individual linked to St Columba’s RC High School has tested positive for Covid-19.

The positive case is currently isolating at home with other household members.

Those who were in close contact with the confirmed case are being offered public health advice and being instructed to self-isolate for 14 days.

Again, there is no evidence to suggest any onward transmission within the school at this stage and the risk to pupils and staff appears to be low.

NHS Fife added that anyone who develops any of the established symptoms of the virus – such as a fever, or a loss or change in taste or smell, or a new and continuous cough – should arrange testing using the UK Government Citizens’ Portal at: https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 0800 028 2816.
