Nicola Sturgeon has said that the infection rate is too high to make any “meaningful change” to the current guidelines, and added that it was “very likely” that lockdown in Scotland would be extended.

The First Minister also commented that though “real and significant progress” is being made towards halting the spread of the virus, the infection rate is not yet at an acceptable level for lockdown to end.

This could diverge from the UK Government who are set to announce new measures to start releasing England from lockdown.

To date in Scotland there are 12,226 people who have tested positive for coronavirus, with 99 people in intensive care and a total of 1,720 people who are in hospital.
