A further 12 people in Scotland have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to new data released by the Scottish Government.

This brings the total number of confirmed deaths from Covid-19 in Scotland to 2,434, the First Minister said at First Minister’s Questions in the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday.

Nicola Sturgeon said 15,665 people have tested positive for Covid-19, an increase of 12 from yesterday.

A total of 987 patients are in hospital with a suspected or confirmed case - a drop of 24 - with 18 being treated in intensive care – down by three.

The figures come as the National Records of Scotland’s data shows a total of 4,000 deaths in the country have been linked to Covid-19 up to to the week ending on Sunday, 7 June.
