The issue on the booking system has now been fixed for anyone calling up regarding their vaccine, but those affected were left uncertain of how their appointments would be rescheduled.

Residents who contacted the Evening News said they were worried that they would ‘slip through the cracks’ in vaccine rollout due to the fault.

A government spokesperson said: “Anyone in NHS Lothian in the 65-74 age group who is concerned about their appointment and has their original letter invite can log onto the vaccine patient portal on NHS inform to reschedule, or contact the national phone line on 0800 030 8013.

"Anyone in NHS Lothian who is in the 75-79 age group or clinically extremely vulnerable group who is concerned about their appointment should make contact with their GP surgery.”
