East Lothian primary school pupil tests positive for coronavirus

The school will remain open.

An East Lothian primary school pupil has tested positive for coronavirus.

The East Lothian Courier reports that a student at Preston Tower Primary School has returned a positive test and that a letter and text message has been sent out to parents and carers.

A spokesman for East Lothian Council acknowledged it was “a worrying time for families”.

He told the Courier: “That’s why we are working with NHS Lothian’s health protection team and will continue to closely monitor the situation and follow all national guidance and the health advice provided.

“Children who have been in direct contact with the confirmed case have been contacted and will be staying at home for 14 days.

The school has remained open and further cleaning will take place.
