Covid Vaccine '94% effective in over 65s' says Pfizer

The coronavirus vaccine being developed by Pfizer and BionTech appears to protect 94% of those aged 65 and over, according to the drug companies.

Data released in their phase three trials of testing also suggests that it works just as well in people of all ethnicities and races.

The findings are based on the distribution of two doses to more than 41,000 across the world.

Both companies are now claiming they will apply for authorisation of emergency use of the jab in America.

The news of the effective rate increase comes after Pfizer and BioNTech published initial data demonstrating that the vaccine would offer 90% protection against Covid-19 with no safety concerns raised.
