Coronavirus in Scotland: pubs, bars and restaurants to follow nationwide 10pm curfew

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced Scotland is to follow the UK's nationwide curfew.

During her announcement she said all pubs, bars and restaurants are to close by 10pm in a bid to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.

Local authorities have been asked to step up inspections in hospitality businesses to ensure the correct measures are in place to protect customers and staff.

Other restrictions brought in today include a nationwide ban on Scots visiting other households, yet, it is still possible to meet up with another household outdoors or in a public place.

The news comes just hours after prime minster Boris Johnson announced a 10pm curfew for pubs, bars and restaurants in England, which could last up to six months to help keep the virus under control.

He said the government would be forced to take “more drastic action” if people refuse to follow the rules.

As of today, September 22, 383 new cases have been confirmed with one new death reported.
