Coronavirus in Scotland: Four further deaths and 903 new Covid cases reported on Sunday

Scotland has recorded four deaths from coronavirus and 903 positive tests in the past 24 hours, according to the latest Scottish Government figures.

The number of new cases across the country is down slightly from the 908 announced on Saturday.

Deaths of people who died after first testing positive for the virus within the previous 28 days has fallen from 45, although registration tends to be closed at the weekends. It brings the total death toll under this measure to 6,715.

Positive test results accounted for 7.3% of all new tests – higher than the previous day’s 4.9%.

There were 50,329 first doses of coronavirus vaccines administered in the 24 hours up until 8.30am on Sunday and a further 272 second doses, according to the Scottish Government’s figures.

A total of 1,223,774 people have now received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and 14,281 have received their second dose.
