Coronavirus in Scotland: No additional deaths and 949 cases in the past 24 hours

Of the new cases, 370 were confirmed in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 190 in Lanarkshire, 83 in Ayrshire and Arran and 95 in the Lothians.

The remaining cases were spread across the seven other mainland health boards across the country.

To date, 1,208 people are being treated for Covid-19 in hospital, an increase of 38 from yesterday, and 84 people are in intensive care, 11 fewer than yesterday, having recently tested positive for the virus.

A total of 89,310 in Scotland are confirmed to have had the virus since the start of the outbreak in March, according to government figures.

Reporting on no additional deaths in the past 24 hours today, Nicola Sturgeon reminded the public that registration offices do tend to be closed at weekends so the figures the Government reports on Sundays and Mondays ‘can be artificially low.’

In total, since last Friday’s media briefing, 44 deaths have been registered.

The country’s death toll currently stands at 3,503.

The new 949 cases represents 8.6% of new tests that were carried out yesterday.
