Coronavirus in Scotland: Covid-19 deaths surpass 3,000, Scottish Government confirms

Scotland’s battle with coronavirus reached a grim milestone today, as officials confirmed that deaths of people who tested positive for the virus surpassed 3,000.

This afternoon, the Scottish Government confirmed that 39 more people had died from the virus in the last 24 hours.

It brings the total death toll of people who tested positive for Covid-19 to 3,036.

Confirmed cases of the virus have now reached 72,328, an increase of 1,596 on the day before.

The number of patients in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus stands at 1,245.

106 people are now being treated for the virus in Scotland’s intensive care units.
