The First Minister announced in her lunchtime briefing today that in the last 24 hours a further 64 deaths have been recorded in Scotland which is the highest daily death count since May 6, 2020.

In total, 1,261 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Of the new cases 488 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 272 in NHS Lanarkshire, 80 were in Ayrshire and Arran and 145 new cases were recorded in NHS Lothian.

The First Minister confirmed that 1,235 people are in hospital with the virus, a decrease of four from the figure reported yesterday

93 people are in intensive care, which is nine fewer than yesterday’s figure.

In total, Scotland has recorded 76,448 positive cases since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The increase of 64 new deaths reported today takes the coronavirus death toll in Scotland to 3,143.
