Coronavirus case at West Lothian Prison with close contacts told to self-isolate for 14 days

Specialist Covid-19 team identified the positive case among NHS staff at HMP Addiewell after carrying out contract tracing at the prison.

A medical worker at HMP Addiewell has tested positive for coronavirus.

According to the NHS, a specialist Covid-19 contact tracing team was called into the West Lothian prison.

The team identified a positive case within the NHS workforce in the prison, and contacted all of the close contacts involved to advise them to self-isolate for 14 days.

None of the inmates of the prison are affected.

An NHS Lothian statement read: "All necessary guidance and advice is being provided and the situation will be closely monitored. The prison remains open.

"To respect and maintain patient confidentiality, no further details will be released.

"NHS Lothian, the Health Protection Team and HMP Addiewell are working together to assess the situation, and ensure that all contingency measures are in place."
