Coronavirus in Scotland: 24 new cases taking country total to 60

24 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Scotland.

The Scottish Government confirmed this afternoon that 2892 had been tested for the virus. 2832 tests returned negative.

There are now 60 cases of coronavirus in Scotland.

The announcement comes as First Minister Nicola Sturgeon warned the Scottish Government was ready to call for the "cancellation of mass gatherings" of more than 500 people from next week to tackle coronavirus.

The First Minister told MSPs that the country was now poised to move into the "delay phase" from the current "containment phase " following the steep rise in the number of cases in Scotland.

There is one new case in Ayrshire and Arran, one new case in Fife, five new cases in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, three new cases in Lanarkshire, three new cases in Lothian, two new cases in Tayside, four new cases in Forth Valley, one new case in Grampian and four new cases in Shetland.
