Coronavirus: Lockdown in England 'to last a month'

England is set to go into lockdown for at least a month after an announcement by Boris Johnson later this evening, according to reports.

The BBC is reporting that non-essential shops and hospitality will have to close.

However, schools and colleges are to be allowed to stay open.

Nicola Sturgeon has said Scots should not travel to or from England unless for essential purposes.

The prime minister’s 5pm news conference looks set to be postponed, with England's chief medical officer Chris Whitty and scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance also in attendance.
