British Airways has cancelled all flights from Gatwick airport

The airline has grounded it’s planes from its second largest base due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

A spokesperson for BA confirmed: ‘Due to the considerable restrictions and challenging market environment, like many other airlines, we will temporarily suspend our flying schedule at Gatwick.

‘We are contacting affected customers to discuss their options.’

The planes will be grounded from tomorrow (April 1) though essential maintenance functions will continue.

There is no current news of the company laying off staff.
