Breast cancer case study: ‘I’m so glad I acted promptly’

RETIRED receptionist Jennifer Gossman says having cancer is no longer a “death sentence”.

Jennifer, 64, left, of West Kilbride in North Ayrshire, said: “People must realise the prognosis for cancer is much better nowadays, but it is scary.

“When I found out that I had breast cancer my initial thought was that I had to get it fixed. I didn’t want to die so I decided that I just had to deal with it. I’m so glad I acted on what I found so soon. I still attend yearly visits to the consultant to get a mammogram but the cancer hasn’t returned. I lead a hectic and enjoyable life now. I swim most days do the gardening and look after my grandchildren. .”
