Beatson Cancer Charity Ball success with over £60,000 raised

ONE of the country's leading cancer charities has raised £60,675 at its annual ball.

Beatson Cancer Charity invited guests to don some glitz and glam for a night of entertainment at the five-star Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

Scots author Angela Proctor contributed to the amount raised by auctioning one of the characters in her third book in the Thumble Tumble series following the recent launch of her second book in Glasgow’s west end.

Hosted by BBC Scotland’s Bryan Burnett, guests were treated to a night of entertainment from Glasgow based musical acts The Lockhearts and London based Tenors Un Limited.

Bryan said: “It’s an honour to support Beatson Cancer Charity and to be a part of this very special event. The evening was a great success spent with some wonderful and inspiring people.”

The money raised from the event will help to provide a comprehensive range of patient and family support services.

David Welch, chief executive of Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “The Beatson Ball is a wonderful opportunity to bring people together and inspire them to join in the fight against cancer, where we will make a real difference to enhance the support, care and wellbeing of cancer patients.
