Asparagus will put spring in our steps

OUTDOOR-grown British asparagus is set to appear on shop shelves – a sign that spring has finally arrived, retailers said.

Sainsbury's said it had asparagus grown under polytunnels in 100 stores. while Marks & Spencer said it would have the vegetable on sale across the UK from Monday.

The British asparagus season traditionally begins on 1 May.
