A GP's job is revealed in new YouTube video documentary

DOCTORS have created a film to show people what happens every day in GP practices in Scotland.

It is the first time that the British Medical Association Scotland has made a film to demonstrate the work of doctors.

The film follows Dr John Tobias, a GP in the South Side of Glasgow, and his team as they go through a typical day, and was launched yesterday as part of the BMA's General Practice week in Scotland.

Dr Dean Marshall, chairman of the BMA's Scottish GPs committee and a GP in Dalkeith, said: "Every year in Scotland, more than 21 million patient consultations take place in GP practices with a team of highly-skilled individuals. For most patients, this is their first and only point of contact in the NHS system."

"I hope that we can use this film to raise awareness of the work of GPs and their teams, reflecting their place at the heart of communities across the country."

The film, General Practice in Scotland: A Day in the Life... , can be found on YouTube.
