She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday surrounded by family.

Last year the youngster, a pupil at St John’s Primary in Ayr, was diagnosed with a DIPG brain tumour and that she had just 12 months to live.

The brain tumour was deemed inoperable, and the youngster travelled to Texas in the summer to receive potentially life-saving treatment.

Linlithgow local Jocelyn Torres, who is the partner of Tilly’s father, Lewis, had set up the website Raising Hope for Tilly to highlight the youngster’s condition and raise funds.

A huge community effort saw over £120,000 raised to help fund a shot at prolonging her life.

Tragically, Tuesday morning an update was posted on the Facebook page for Tilly sharing the news everyone had most feared.

It explained that Tilly’s radiotherapy treatment had been ceased “due to concerns for her safety”, and that the 5-year-old had been admitted to the intensive care unit following a bad seizure on 23 October.

Tilly’s official fundraising page also confirmed the news she had died.

It read: “It’s with unbearably heavy hearts that we have to tell you all that our gorgeous wee Tilly went to heaven in the early hours of this morning.

“We are grateful that Tilly passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.

“As much as this feels like a horrible dream, there are no words to describe how proud we all are of the undeniable bravery our little princess has shown.

“You truly are an inspiration and will be missed beyond measure. Rest in peace wee wee baby, you’ll remain in our hearts forever.”
