Training for council staff

A COURSE giving training to staff working for councillors is under way at West Lothian College.

Developed by the Scottish Member Services Development Network, the course is designed to give administration staff a nationally-recognised qualification.

Eight employees from councils across Scotland are currently studying the ten-month pilot course, which is delivered via online learning, face-to-face training, work-based learning and self study.

On successful completion, the staff will be awarded a Scottish Member Services Professional Certificate.

Jenny Stalker, quality manager at West Lothian College, said: "The course is proving to be a huge success. Staff relatively new to member services are able to hit the ground running."
