Student snaps up Ken and Barbie photo prize

A CITY student who photographed Ken and Barbie on a speedboat has seen her snap take centre stage at an exhibition in Cannes celebrating the most famous doll in the world.

Kaylie Allan, 21, a graphic design student at Napier University, has won the French photography competition staged by Barbie makers Mattel. Her glamorous image, which is shot in black and white and shows Barbie relaxing while a topless Ken drives towards the Cannes shoreline, has already featured in French fashion magazine Jalouse.

Now it is being displayed as the winning photograph at the Barbie Cannes exhibition, which takes place during the world-renowned film festival.

Miss Allan entered the contest while studying at Paris's ESAG Penninghen, a French design school.

She said: "It was a fantastic opportunity and I still can't believe I won."
