Stuart uses his bus pass to make epic trip

A RETIRED teacher is putting his bus pass to good use by replicating an epic 1,000 mile tour of Scotland made one of the great figures of English literature over 200 years ago.

Stuart Campbell, from Edinburgh, is following the same route as that taken by Dr Samuel Johnson and his Scots biographer James Boswell. They who embarked from London in August 1773 on a grand tour of Scotland by horse.

Mr Campbell, 60, said the bus was a "suitable alternative to horses".

He added: "When I got my bus pass, I thought it too good an opportunity to miss. It is wonderful to travel the length and breadth of the land for free."
