Pupils shown fun of science

FIRST year pupils at an East Lothian secondary school have taken part in a programme of events designed to make them consider a career in science.

The pupils at Ross High School in Tranent took part in two days of practical experiments when Lab in a Lorry – a mobile lab that gives young people the chance to explore science through hands-on experiments – visited the school.

Last week they also participated in a day-long session with Edinburgh University's Sci-Fun Scottish Science and Technology Roadshow.

The aim of Sci-Fun is to encourage more Scottish pupils to choose science, and in particular to study more than one science subject.

At the event pupils listened to a short careers talk on science.
