£10m investment in new buildings at Gordonstoun

GORDONSTOUN, one of Scotland’s most exclusive schools, has unveiled a multi-million pound development plan aimed at cementing its position as one of the world’s leading international boarding schools.

The £10.5 million programme at the Moray school will include the construction of new buildings at the school which has educated three generations of the Royal Family.

A major part of the investment project will be the creation of an academic and spiritual centre dedicated to Kurt Hahn, who co-founded the school after being forced to flee Nazi Germany.

Hahn’s philosophies and commitment to education beyond academic excellence are shared by other schools around the world which form part of an association known as Round Square – named after the building at Gordonstoun which will house the new centre.

Simon Reid, Gordonstoun’s principal, said: “I am very pleased that the board of governors has approved this vital development in Gordonstoun’s history and by underpinning the school’s commitment to the ethos of Kurt Hahn and Round Square, we can continue to be leading pioneers in education and create an environment, which will enable young people to leave school having been challenged to make a real difference in the world.”
