Positive case confirmed at Scottish nursery forcing its closure

Several schools and nurseries have seen positive cases since pupils returned in August.

A Scottish nursery has been forced to temporarily close after a coronavirus case was confirmed.

Braidbar Nursery Class shut its doors temporarily following after reports of a staff member testing positive for coronavirus.

An East Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “Following notification of a positive test linked to Braidbar Nursery Class, we made colleagues at Public Health aware and are following all necessary procedures. In line with the guidance provided by Public Health, the nursery has been closed temporarily. Parents have also been informed of the measures we are taking.”

Several schools have experienced positive cases of coronavirus since pupils returned in August.

Parents and carers of children at James Gillespie's High School were sent an email from staff earlier this month confirming a pupil tested positive for - but there is no evidence of transmission within the school itself.

As of Monday 7, Scotland has seen 146 new positive cases of coronavirus, with no new reported deaths.
