Funded by LEADER+ and the National Heritage Lottery and organised by ELGT, the initiative will allow visitors to unlock the secrets of Scotland's first oil rush while taking in the scenic surroundings. Historical information narrating the story of the ‘Shale people’ will be on display via QR-codes throughout the route along with public art to capture the imagination of visitors.

Trekkers and cyclists can easily navigate through the trail by finding the Shale Trail on Google Maps. For more information, including clear maps of the path and the stories behind each stop, please visit https://shaletrail.co.uk/.
