Museum boss takes up role

THE newly-appointed director of the Scottish Mining Museum officially picks up the reins this week to begin her new role in charge of one of Scotland's top historical tourist attractions.

Rowan Brown joins the team at the museum after spending four years as senior curator in technology at National Museums Scotland.

During her time there she pioneered a number of exhibitions and events, and also helped secure vital Heritage Lottery Funding and private sponsorship for the Royal Museum Redevelopment Project.
