More students in higher education

THE number of students attending university and college has gone up by more than 5,000, figures showed yesterday.

A total of 215,495 students enrolled in Scottish higher education institutions in 2008-9, up from 210,180 the previous year. The number of full-time students has increased to 156,820, but part-time enrolments fell to 58,675.
