Kings of the Castle build challenge win

A TEAM of pupils from Merchiston Castle School have beaten off competition from 29 other schools across Edinburgh and the Lothians to become winners of a construction challenge.

The team of S2 pupils scooped the title in the Built Environment Challenge after a series of challenges including building a garden shed and taking part in a property development exercise.

The team walked away with a trophy and gift vouchers plus a cheque for 300 for their school, following the event held at the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh.

Stephen Sheridan, of ConstructionSkills said: "Congratulations to Merchiston Castle. They have performed consistently well throughout the heats leading up to this final and also on the day itself."
