Jewel and Esk College jobs facing axe

A SHAKE-UP of management positions at Jewel and Esk College will lead to job losses, college chiefs have announced.

As a result of middle management restructuring, three positions from a mid-tier staff of eight will be cut.

Staff who survive the cull will be redeployed into administrative duties rather than acting as conduits between lecturers and faculty heads.

All redundancies are expected to be voluntary.

In a statement Carolyn Murray, director of human resources at Jewel & Esk College, said the decision to shed staff was not "taken lightly" but that as a public service provider the college had to "evaluate and adjust as (they] move to the future".
