Good sports are sought by teachers for pupil awards

TEACHERS are being encouraged to nominate pupils for an award designed to inspire young people to take part in sports.

Sky Sports Living for Sport Student of the Year Award 2010 is seeking nominations from Edinburgh and Scotland.

To nominate students, teachers need to visit www.sky sports.com/livingforsport and fill in the application form.

Olympic gold medal-winning sprinter and Sky Sports Living for Sport ambassador Darren Campbell will lead the judging panel to help decide the 12 regional finalists who will be invited to the national awards ceremony to be held at Lord's cricket ground on 8 October.

He said: "Without sport, and the encouragement of teachers who saw how it was helping me to develop focus and self-belief, I could have very easily chosen a very different path in life."

Schools who have participated in the sports programme include Moore House School in Bathgate and Lasswade High School in Midlothian.
