Golf's greats remembered

GOLFING pioneers are to be immortalised in a "green" plaque heritage trail around North Berwick, acknowledging the homes and workplaces of the town's champions.

More than 40 golfing greats are included in the honorary scheme, with plaques mounted on the properties where they lived, worked or were born.

North Berwick is the first town in Scotland to undertake such a scheme.

Douglas Seaton, one of a four-strong team of volunteers, said: "The trail is a way of recognising golfers who took the sport to other countries."
