Education and Careers: Embracing the future world

Everyone deserves the right to fulfil their potential,” says Professor Anna Fenge, executive dean of the Global College at Heriot-Watt University. “That’s why we’re widening access to higher education for students who may not have thought it possible before to get a university degree.”

Heriot-Watt’s Global College offers a specialised path to an undergraduate degree for students who may have narrowly missed the entry requirements, taken a few years away from studies, or are considering a change of subject.

The college’s tailored Bachelors Accelerator programmes in accounting and finance, business, psychology, engineering, science and technology bridge the gap, allowing students to enter the second year of a degree at Heriot-Watt University after successfully completing this first year.

“With smaller class sizes, our dedicated faculty provides personalised support, creating a nurturing and university-style learning environment,” Fenge says.

Students will study at our beautiful, green Edinburgh campus, attending engaging lectures, interactive tutorials, and workshops that foster critical thinking and ignite a genuine enthusiasm for learning.”

Students who start their university journey through Global College will have access to the same teaching experience and campus facilities as their peers.

Heriot-Watt’s career-focused undergraduate degrees are highly valued by students and potential employers, and the university offers students personalised pastoral care – which, among many things, includes life-long career support.

The recent Graduate Outcomes Survey placed Heriot-Watt University first in Scotland and fifth in the UK for positive undergraduate outcomes, and it ranked an impressive 32nd in the UK and 235th globally in the most recent QS World University Rankings.

Spaces are still available for the Bachelors Accelerator programmes at Heriot-Watt Global College starting this September.
