Dumfries school revamp under scrutiny
THE Scottish Government says its is “watching with interest” proposals for a revamp of education in Dumfries which could lead to the creation of a separate school for senior secondary pupils.
The local council’s plans for a “learning town” are to go out to public consultation, with proposals for a new school for S4-S6 pupils.
It would aim to offer a broader curriculum for older students and establish closer links with colleges and universities. The consultation on the proposals will run until November.
The council’s director of education, Colin Grant, said: “This is a ground-breaking, innovative project that could benefit everyone.”
