Double nomination for Dumbarton school in UK education awards

A SCOTTISH school and its headteacher are in the running for two top education awards.

Our Lady and St Patrick’s High in Dumbarton, West Dunbartonshire and its headteacher, Charles Rooney, are nominated for best secondary school and best headteacher at the annual TES School Awards.

St Ninian’s High in Kirkintilloch is also in the running for best secondary as part of the UK-wide awards, while St Luke’s High in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire is nominated in the outstanding literacy or numeracy initiative category.

Portree Primary on Skye is nominated in the outstanding sporting initiative or partnership category, while Lewis Phillips of Inverkeithing High in Fife is shortlisted in the category for those promoting computing and IT in schools.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the London Hilton, Park Lane, on Friday 6 July.
