Stockbroker eyes ‘cereal’ funding

A FORMER stockbroker at Scottish investment bank Noble has launched his own range of cereal bars after swapping stocks and shares for fruit and oats.

Gordon Leatherdale’s Wild Trail wholegrain and popcorn bars are being sold by retailers including Budgens, Sainsbury’s and Selfridges.

Leatherdale raised more than £7.5 million using an enterprise investment scheme to launch Country Food & Dining in 2006. The firm owns seven farm shops and restaurants south of the Border.

Now the former officer from the Devon & Dorset Regiment is using crowd-funding website Crowdcube to raise £150,000 for his latest venture. He hopes to expand the cereal bars into the fast-growing gluten-free snacks market and expand its sales team.
