Owner VC2 Brands has renamed the Throsk-based company Black Wolf Brewery, drawing its new identity from the local legend of an animal that howled to alert the local population of 9th century Viking invaders.

Richardson, the former managing director of Johnston Press Scotland, has experience in the brewing trade from his time at Courage. Black Wolf has marked the relaunch with a new range of craft beers.
