Renewable information sharing

Income from renewable energy projects is now a significant feature on a number of Scottish farms and this week, NFU Scotland announced that it was looking for farmers who have pioneered wind, water or biomass projects to share their experiences.

The union has secured funding from the Scottish Government to assist with the project aimed at the provision of independent advice on renewable energy projects for farmers and land managers across Scotland thinking about creating energy.

To assist NFUS, Smiths Gore has been appointed as an independent consultant.

But in order to drive the project forward, the Union would like to contact potential demonstration farms so they can showcase renewable energy projects in the Scottish rural sector.

The union’s Lisa Roberts said: “For Scotland to achieve the full potential that exists in the rural renewables sector, we believe that it is essential for farmers and land managers to learn from each other’s experiences.”

She confirmed the Union was looking for volunteer farmers who would be willing to share their renewables story.
