EDINBURGH distillery Pickering’s Gin is on track to more than double its turnover this year on the back of rising overseas sales.

The firm, which launched a year ago at the city’s Summerhall creative hub, is already on the shelves at upmarket retailers such as Fortnum & Mason, Harvey Nichols and House of Bruar, as well as stores in Canada and Hong Kong.

Marcus Pickering, who set up the firm with Matthew Gammell, said it has now secured export deals in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

He added: “We’re looking at turnover of just under £1 million this year, which would be more than double our first year.”

Pickering said the firm, which expanded twice within its first year and added more bottling space on the site of Edinburgh’s former Royal Dick Vet School, is also looking to boost its five-strong head count to cope with demand.
