The first gin distillery to open in Edinburgh for 150 years has officially launched in what used to be the dog kennels at the city’s former Royal Dick vet school.

Pickering’s Gin is the brainchild of Marcus Pickering, a former butler at Skibo Castle, right, and engineer Matthew Gammell. Pickering said: ‘With the growing trend, popularity and resurgence of gin, now seemed the ideal time to introduce it to the market.’
