Landlord anger over bully claim

Scottish landowners reacted strongly yesterday to claims made the Scottish Tenant Farmers Association earlier in the week that “bully boy” tactics were being used in some cases to push up rents on tenanted farms.

Luke Borwick, chairman of Scottish Land & Estates, said he regretted that the STFA had “once again resorted to unwarranted vilification of landlords and land agents”.

“The overwhelming majority of tenants enjoy amicable and professional relationships with landlords,” he claimed, adding that less than per cent of rent reviews go to any form of arbitration.
