Highlands seafood supplier leaps into London market

Expansion into the lucrative London market and the growth of online ordering has enabled Highlands fish and seafood supplier Coast and Glen to net significant growth.

The firm’s success has been aided by a financing facility from HSBC which has helped founder Magnus Houston to establish a foothold in the London market.

Its customers include Gordon Ramsay’s eponymous Michelin-starred restaurant.

Coast and Glen has seen turnover leap from £690,000 in 2015 to £1.1 million in the latest financial period.

Houston, a recent winner of the Institute of Directors emerging director award, said: “Before partnering with HSBC, we would never have been able to supply outside of the Highlands and Islands in the same timeframe.”

The finance was allocated from the banking giant’s national £10 billion SME fund. Some £450m is specifically designated to support Scottish businesses.
