Entries open for ‘closed’ Royal Highland Showcase

Entries for the stock classes to be held at this year’s ‘behind closed doors’ Royal Highland Showcase open today with the launch of an online portal for those considering exhibiting at the event.

Taking place over the week of 14-20 June, the Showcase, a first of its kind event in the UK, will allow exhibitors to return to the RHS show ring for the first time since 2019.

Entries can be made online at royalhighlandshow.org from all parts of the UK, with attendance subject to Scottish government restrictions at the time. The show’s organisers said that overnight accommodation would be available for exhibitors the night before their class to enable those who need to travel from afar to compete.

Beef Cattle and Sheep classes will take place on Monday and Tuesday, with Heavy Horse classes and Forestry on Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday and Saturday will see the Light Horse (including HOYS qualifiers) and Show Jumping will run from Thursday to Sunday. Saturday and Sunday will also see Dairy Calves & Showmanship, Poultry and Sheep Shearing take place.

The majority of classes will be live streamed across up to four channels, as they happen, from Ingliston, with others being featured in an ‘on demand’ section of the website for later viewing.

All content will be free to view, with RHASS members gaining access to an exclusive ‘members only’ area of the website.

RHASS chairman, Bill Gray, said that the live-streaming would give exhibitors a ‘unique opportunity’ to have access to a global shop window.
