Dunsmore to quit as C&C chief executive

FORMER Scottish & Newcastle boss John Dunsmore has announced that he is to step down as chief executive of Tennent’s lager‑owning C&C after three years of restructuring the Irish drinks group.

At the end of December, he will hand over to C&C’s chief operating officer and finance director, Stephen Glancey, another former S&N executive who has helped him reposition the company.

Dunsmore, who joined the Irish group in November 2008 after brewing giant S&N succumbed to a joint takeover bid from Carlsberg and Heineken, will stay on the board until next February as part of the hand-over. He retains a 2 per cent stake in C&C, currently valued at about €14 million (£12m).

Dunsmore, who is on a one‑year rolling contract and earned a basic salary of €700,000 last year, part of which he is expected to receive as part of a negotiated contractual payoff, said he had decided it was the right time to “hand over the baton” to Glancey now the strategic direction of C&C had been established.
