Devro names Hoetmer as new chairman

Sausage skin maker Devro, which earlier this week warned its profits would take a knock from an overhaul of its manufacturing operations, today named Gerard Hoetmer as its new chairman, replacing Steve Hannam.

Hoetmer, the out-going chief executive of Dutch food ingredients maker Corbion, joined the board of the Lanarkshire company as a non-executive in July and takes up his new role on 15 May.

Hannam, who has been chairman for five years, said last month that he would be standing down due to “personal circumstances”.

He said today: “Although Devro has recently faced some trading headwinds, the future for the business remains very positive, and with the major capital projects and planned restructuring we have the pillars in place to support our growth plans.

“Since Gerard joined the Board in July 2013, he has shown a natural understanding of all aspects of our business.”
