Cakes group lines up Baker as new chairman

Finsbury Foods, the Aim-quoted bread and cake maker, today said food industry veteran Peter Baker is set to become its new chairman in July.

Baker, whose previous roles include managing director of Rank Hovis Mills and chief executive of La Fornaia Bakeries, succeeds Finsbury chairman Martin Lightbody, who joined the group in 2007 when it bought the Lightbody Cakes business in Hamilton.

Finsbury also said non-executive director and former chairman David Marshall will be stepping down from the board, having served on its since 1979.

Chief executive John Duffy said: “Finsbury Food is at a pivotal stage of its evolution and we have been shaping the expertise and capabilities of the board accordingly. Peter’s wealth of global industry and PLC experience will be a considerable asset to the group.”
