BrewDog crafts US import tie-up

CRAFT beer producer BrewDog has launched an import and distribution division after agreeing a deal to bring US peer Stone Brewing Co’s ales to these shores.

The Aberdeenshire firm said it was now in talks with “lots more interesting breweries from around the world” with a view to sourcing “the best craft beers on the planet”.

Under the tie-up with Stone Brewing, BrewDog will import the San Diego-based company’s entire range, including tipples such as Stone Ruination IPA.

James Watt, pictured right with co-founder Martin Dickie, said: “[Stone] have been front-line ambassadors of the craft beer revolution in the US for almost 20 years. This partnership is a natural extension of the passion we share for getting people excited about craft beer and shaking up the status quo.”

Stone Brewing chief executive Greg Koch added: “With a team educated and passionate about craft beer we know BrewDog will deliver.”

BrewDog has 18 UK pubs and has appointed former G1 operations director David McDowall as managing director of its bars business, which also runs seven international sites. Further outlets in Glasgow’s Merchant City and Barcelona are due to open.
