Coronavirus in Scotland: What time is Nicola Sturgeon speaking today?

After the First Minister updated Scottish Parliament yesterday on issues such as school re-openings and travelling restrictions, here is when you can expect her to give an update on the latest coronavirus figures for Scotland today (Wednesday, February 3).

When will the First Minister provide an update on lockdown restrictions?

Nicola Sturgeon will be answering questions from MSPs at parliament today during First Minister’s Questions at around 12.30pm and is expected to give an update on Scotland’s latest coronavirus figures prior to this.

Speaking at parliament yesterday, Tuesday February 2, Nicola Sturgeon announced the ‘gradual return’ of the youngest primary school children to full time schooling in three weeks’ time, February 22, as Scotland will remain in lockdown until at least March.

Addressing MSPs in Holyrood, the First Minister said that, subject to confirmation on February 16, all children under school age in early learning and childcare will return.

Pupils in Primary 1 to Primary 3 will likely to return with some older pupils who need to complete national qualifications in school premises allowed back into school.

Incoming travellers will also be forced to quarantine in hotels regardless of where they have travelled from under new plans from the Scottish Government.

Secretary of state for Scotland Alister Jack has also written to the First Minister to offer more support in accelerating the vaccination programme in Scotland.

During the FMQs today, Ms Sturgeon will face questions from MSPs such as Ruth Davidson, Willie Rennie and Patrick Harvie.

The First Minster will be expected to face questions on the speed of Scotland’s vaccine roll out.

The Scottish Green Party Patrick will also be challenging the First Minister by leading a motion at parliament today asking for universal support for those self isolating after the First Minister announced £500 grants for people having to do so.

The motion will include access to hotel accommodation as well as a consideration of people’s caring responsibilities by including internet access and pet care support.
