NRG Energy plans to eventually convert the power station into a carbon capture and storage project.

Jim McGlothlin, president of power solutions at Wood Group’s gas turbine services division, said: “We are pleased to be working with NRG on this exciting project, which leverages the combined strengths of our engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance support services, and our management of fast-track projects.”

David Greeson, commercial vice president at NRG Energy-subsidiary Petra Nova, added: “Their gas turbine experience makes Wood Group GTS well suited to the demands of the project. We are looking forward to working with their team.”
